Warning: It's not your typical detective show with serious cops and detectives.
Over the years, Psych has become a comfort show. Its one of the shows which run in the background and I don't even have to look at the screen to know whats going on. I've always loved a good detective show. I also love a belly aching comedy show and Psych is the perfect blend of both of those things. It keeps you focused on the show and makes you laugh until your eyes start to water.
Psych is one of my favorite TV shows. Its the perfect combination of good detective, crime plot combined with funny twist. If you are a fan of detective shows but love comedy, this is the right show for you.
First episode: 2006
Last episode: 2014
Total number of seasons: 8
Movies: Three movies - Psych the movie, Psych 2 : Lassie come home, Psych 3: This is Gus
I still remember I accidentally stumbled upon Psych. I was in 8th grade and was looking to watch Psycho the movie but had a small typo and ended up searching for Psych, best mistake ever. I clicked on the first video which was Psych blooper and thought "if the blooper is this good, imagine how the show must be". Then I went ahead to watch the show through YouTube and instantly fell in love.
The show revolves around two friends, Shawn Spencer and Burton Guster (Gus) working with the Santa Barbara Police Department in solving crimes. But here comes the twist, they are not detectives, but they are even cooler, they are Psychic Detectives.
Shawn who is a great eye for detail pretends to be a Psychic and his best friend Gus, who is a Pharmaceutical salesman helps his the Santa Barbara. The are hired ( well sometimes on purpose ) by the SBPD to close some unsolvable cases. These two along with head detective Carlton Lassiter and his partner Detective Juliet O'Hara go about solving cases based on Shawn's psychic hunches.
While everyone on the show isn't aware that Shawn and Gus are lying except for Shawn's dad who is a retired SBPD head detective whole helps his son to solves some mysteries. The shows has the perfect mixture of paranormal, mystery and classic cases.
My favorite episode: Last Night Gus | Season 6, Ep 2 | It was the episode which made me laugh a lot.
Expect to see a lot of banter, funny investigations and GOOFY DANCES.
I was sad when the series ended but the show decided to release three movies too so you have a lot of content to watch. During the covid pandemic, Psych was one of the shows I binged. But suddenly Amazon Prime removed it since it didn't get enough views (I'm talking about Psych's views In India). For some reason I was only able to find snippets of the show through Peacock's YouTube channel. But I have good news, Psych is now AVAILABLE on Netflix India and on the Peacock app (I don't think its available in India and you have too subscribe to watch).
If you a looking for a new show to watch, give Psych a go. Tell me how you like it or not, no hate here.
