Midnight - A South Korean Thriller

This movie is for the ones who love a good nail-biting thriller. This movie revolves around a mute girl who witnesses something that she shouldn’t have and when the killer finds out that she is mute, he is on a mission to kill her and her mother who is also mute.

I stubled upon this movie on a fine Sunday afternoon when I was looking at Prime TV for a good movie to watch while eating my biriyani. That's when I came across a newly released movie on Amazon Prime called Midnight. To be honest I only clicked on the movie because the poster had Wi Ha Joon on it (yes I'm a fan of Joon).

To give a small gist, when Kyeong Mi (Jin Ki Joo), a mute girl comes across an injured girl, So Jung (Kim Hye Yoon) and asks to help her and informs Kyeong Mi that a killer, Do Sik (Wi Ha Joon) is out to kill her.

Do Sik finds both girls planning to escape but he tries to kill Kyeong Mi. But she somehow outran and found her mother and reported the killing to the police.

On the other hand, Do Sik who disguised himself as So Jung’s older brother comes up to her and asks about his sister who never reached home after a night out. While they were in the police station trying to identify the girl, So Jung’s real brother, Jong Tak (Park Joon) came to the station to find his sister. Note, Jong Tak is a cop and that’s his station.

Kyeong Mi successfully tells Jong Tak about his sister being hurt and in a way, Kyeong Mi also discovers that Do Sik is the killer since he was wearing a face mask when he was chasing her and she never saw her face.

The cop brother goes out to find Do Sik and drops Kyeong Mi and her mother at their place and go around the city looking for his sister and the killer. From there is a cat-and-mouse chase with nail-biting plot twists.

The movie is named Midnight because this entire movie takes place up until midnight and early morning. It’s the perfect movie name for a murder/thriller. So people like me who love good thriller movies, this is a MUST watch.
